Barisardo, a small village on the east coast of Sardinia, is perfectly placed to explore the main places of cultural interest and the beautiful landscape of Ogliastra. It remains a largely unspoilt area with the typical fragrances and colours of the Mediterranean maquis and many magnificent beaches.
The symbol of Barisardo is the renowned Spanish tower, called Torre di Bari, which dominates the entire coast from a small promontory. During the summer season it is possible to visit the tower and also to attend a range of cultural events held there.
The area has a rich archaeological heritage and there are a number of nuraghi (typical Sardinian megalithic stone houses) and Domus de Janas (pre-nuragic stone chamber tombs) some of which can be reached after a short walk.
During the year there are a number of cultural events in Barisardo which involve the whole village and attract thousands of visitors, and the parish church of The Beata Vergine del Monserrato with a rich artistic heritage is a must for visitors to the village.
